About Turkish Cuisine

The Turkish culinary culture is in the third place in the world after Chinese and French cuisine. Turkish cuisine is one of the most appetizing and rich cuisines as it embraces influences from the Mediterranean to the Middle East and from Central Asia to Eastern Europe. Famously known for its kebabs and köfte, it is so much more. For example, dough based specialties form an integral part of traditional Turkish cuisine as do fresh vegetables and a wide variety of grains and yogurt. Turkish cuisine varies across the regions and we at Nazar Restaurant in Hastings offer a great selection of the most popular dishes from all over the country.

We recommend you try the Adana (minced lamb blended with herbs, seasoned and shaped around a skewer, then grilled over charcoal)

and the Saksuka which is a traditional Turkish side dish, consists of eggplant, zucchinis, garlic, tomatoes and chili.

Frequently used ingredients in Turkish specialties include: lamb, beef, rice, fish, eggplants, green peppers, onions, garlic, lentils, beans, zucchinis and tomatoes. Nuts, especially pistachios, chestnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, and walnuts, together with spices, have a special place in Turkish cuisine, and are used extensively in desserts or eaten separately. Herbs are an essential part of seasoning; mint, parsley, coriander and dill added to various dishes. Most popular spices include, saffron, paprika, nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamom, black pepper, allspice, anise, cumin, clove and sesame seeds.

Our excellent Chef will be happy to cater for all your special dietary requirements and able to omit certain ingredients to which you may be allergic!
